Attractive ornamental willow with pitch-black bark, which has a lovely purple sheen to it. Young growth is an impressive black and green colour, and a mature shrub will grow to 3m / 10ft high. Shining ebony coloured stems throughout winter, and best to prune hard annually in early spring for best colours. It cuts well in the summer to provide great foliage for floristry projects - and with patience, it can be used in basketry projects providing great contrast in colours.
